You must try and book with Essential Travel as I had so much help from Lorraine. She talked me through all I had to do on line as I am not computer literate as well as finding the trip I was looking for.

Not a bad website compared with some of the other Insurers in the marketplace.The questions about medical history are very sensible ones although its a bit annoying that you can't answer none to any of the illnesses listed.You have to pick one a a minimum !!
We cancelled our holiday insurance with your copany because we gave full infomation regarding our medcial condition and an important piece of infomation was not on the policy when we download it apart continue phoning your co on 0844 number which cost alot of money trying to explain the point we tried to make the money was taken from our account the same day we cancelled therefore we still awaiting our full refund of 354. 38 and we hope this money is back in our account very soon Ali Hassan
When it came to renewing our travel insurance, we found premiums had increased considerably. However, after comparing various quotes, we found Essential still gave best cover and value for money.
Everything seemed great, until my hour of need came and it was at this point when Essential Travel turned its back on me. Essential Travel is part of Thomas Cook, had I known this at the time I would not have entrusted them with my travel insurance. Thomas Cook as we all know, almost went into administration in 2012, clearly they intend on recouping losses by screwing customer out of there legitimate claims. The Group is underwritten by White Horse Insurance Ireland Limited who are a nightmare to deal with.
I was unfortunate enough to take in good faith that the financial product they sold me was fit for purpose, however I was soon to learn otherwise. The fine print is littered with clauses and definitions which is standard practice, however White Horse Insurance Ireland Limited take their interpretation to the extreme with no regard for your position. I've traveled the world and used many insurance companies, these guys are by far the worst. For peace of mind I would take my business elsewhere, I know I will in the future.
make sure you read all of the small print most reviews are how easy it is to get your travel insurance through essential travel (by the way the insurance is not with them its passed on to white horse insurance based in the roi read their reviews if you can find them) more important see how difficult it is to make a genuine claim. me and my family have used essential for years never made a claim when you do see how difficult the system becomes won't use again

Easy to understand and use website. No interaction with any staff members so cannot comment...hopefully we won't need to use the insurance but as for setting it up, no problems at all.
Very happy with the service I received when going through the claims process.
Getting a proposal was easy. You then only had to make up your mind about the sort of coverage you want and book it accordingly. I decided against the paper documents (sent by mail) just for the reason being I ran out of time as I booked late.
Fortunately I didn't have to make use of the services on the spot and therefore cannot comment on that part.
booked travel insurance with essential travel for January. done in ten minutes and policy was emailed to me that date. How easy was that, i've used them before and never had any problems everything is so straight forward, question and answer forms. Very good.
On any trip we go on outside the UK we always use Essential Travel Insurance. More frequently that not we choose the Superior Cover, it gives you that little bit extra cover.
It was really hard to find a company when you have a teenager going on a school trip for 9 weeks. They offer so much and it is so reasonable and they do not discriminate against the country she is going to, It was quick and easy i would recommend this company. I have also told the other parents taking part on this school trip.
I have used Essential Travel for a few years now. Their website is very straight forward and easy to find your way around. It offers good value for money and you can design a package to suit your groups individual needs or circumstances. I would recommend this company to others.
The only insurer I could find to provide cover for our 15 year old travelling on school trip to USA. Booking process on web site was clear and quick - and the premiums are really cheap. Can't fault it.
Quick good information and easy instrictions also very inexpensive did make a mistake on line but called and Ryan a very helpfull member of staff rectified it amediatly and was very pleasantly.
pretty cheap but the grabbing f#ckrs can only apply level 2 or 3 cover to whole trip or not at all and cover cant be extended once away. whole bunch of get out clauses for them too. the company this lot took over from were much better, friendlier, clearer about product, better website and much more tailored to backpack market. if you can find somethi ng else at this price i'd go there instead ...
Very good service both on website and on phone. Only one ambiguity on website, which I phoned up about: during application process I had mentioned medical conditions, which I wanted excluded from cover, but on the last page it said I had to phone up to discuss them within fourteen days. Perhaps that could have made it clear that that was only necessary if I had wanted cover for them. My phone call clarified this very rapidly.
Really easy to use, were happy to reply to queries quickly and with little fuss, covered everything I needed and would definitely use them again! In fact I already am!
As you know my son was off to china and wanted a quick good travel insurance,
after looking a many sites and comaring prices he found one called Essestial travel,
not only was the site easy and quick to respond, he also got a far cheaper travel insurance
than quoated by others, its was quick to access and find the one which was right for him
it only took about 10mins to give all the details they needed and when he had finshed,he got a email with all his insurance details that he needed, not only was he pleased, i felt better knowing he was proctected if any think did go wrong, so if any one needs travel insurance look know further.

Have used essential travel for all my parking and insurance for a few years now - very easy, competitive pricing and stores a history of all my purchases online. All documentation electronic which is a plus for me. Would recommend for price and ease of use. Never had a single problem.
Have used three different products from Essential and had to claim on one of them I must say this was carried out with utmost efficiency so I have absolutely no qualms about using Essential for my insurance needs
Having been a policyholder of Essential Travel for several years (and a claimant on one occasion) I was extremely disappointed to find that my renewal premium had increased from £82 to £299 with no word of explanation. I have renewed but with dramatically reduced cover. I think the insurer's action demonstrated an unacceptable disregard for their policyholders.
On the positive side, I was pleased with the manner in which my claim was handled.
Once bought there's no details of what to do in an emergency, phone numbers on the summary, key acts etc.and can't find them on the website.
Website is very slow.
The travel insurance seems good (not had to claim yet!) but I can't understand why my policy didn't auto-renew when it expired. This meant I went abroad for a weekend without insurance (I thought I was covered) because I wasn't notified of the expiry until after it had happened. Also, the website is a little clunky. I am logged in, I buy my insurance and then I am asked to provide a password so it can set up an account, not really registering that I already have an account. And why don't returning customers get some sort of discount for renewing?
