I was worried about taking my car to Halfords for an MOT, most the review insinuated they offered cheap MOTs then rip you off by failing the car. Being a blonde older woman alone, I thought here goes, how many hundreds of pounds will they con me out off.
The answer is NONE, I had to pay a small amount for oil, but this was due to my own negligence, I knew it was low.
Thank you to Pete & Jamie at Halfords on Nuthall Road, Nottingham - You are a credit to the company.
I bought a bike from Halfords Carrickmines a few months ago as my Bike To Work scheme required me to use a Halfords store.
After picking out the model I wanted, I placed my order and was told to return the next day to collect the assembled bike. I arrived back at the designated time and was told that the bike wasn't built yet, and I'd have to come back the next day (Monday). I called up on my lunchbreak only to find that they had suddenly and inexplicably run out of stock? I was told the bike had been reordered and would be in by the weekend. I recieved a call on Friday to say the bike would be ready for collection on Sat and, fair dues, when I got there it was ready. However, upon returning home I found that the handlebars were loose and rotated with minimal pressure. The gears hadn't been set properly and the brakes were also loose and largely ineffective. I corrected these issues myself, but I did give the store a call to let them know I was unhappy with the setup. After holding for almost 10 mins, the youth informed me that they had been very busy and things like this were 'bound to slip through'???
I think next time I'll just skip the hassle and buy from a decent store, bike to work be damned.
Bad customer interaction from all 6 visits feels like they are rushing you out as soon as possible and very short staffed only 1 staff at the store presented on 7/6/13, will no longer be going to the store anymore

I was unaware that my tyres were directional and made the mistake of changing them around to even-out the wear.
My error was immediately spotted and corrected without further charge when I took the car to Halfords for Front Wheel Alignment.
I highly recommend Halfords Autocentre, Barker Street, Norwich branch.

avoid these monkeys and spend your cash else where, 8 weeks ago bought 20 inch apollo mountain bike 120 quid. bought a gel seat and asked for handle bar to be raised. took bike home the next day got a mile, seat and handle bars worked loose, back in it went, fixed for free. 2 weeks later bulge appeared in back tyre, tyre let down and re inflated, 10 mins later happened again, so it went back in again for tyre, tube replacement again free, 4 weeks later no brakes on front half brakes on rear and gears crunched so again it went in and left it there. was told 30 quid to service it so left it for 2weeks and have just got it back and back wheel has slight play in it, rear tyre is very worn and breaking up, no way its a 8 week old tyre, like its been swapped, mark on the seat post and gears still not right. wish i never bothered with them.
and my car, even worse....
had replacement steering rack done on car and got it back with gator twisted and pas fliud over bottom of engine, have asked other mechanics about gator have been told theres not enough grease in the rack and will have bother in the future, alooy wheels had their paint chipped.
had new brake shoes fitted, got report the drums were worn so the mechanics fitted new shoes to worn drums which is like fitting new pads to warped old discs, you just dont do it.
car has now faulty hand brake 8 clicks and a clunk before it works, the adjusters have been refitted wrongly.
asked for a knocking to be checked at rear and get car back with suspension arms replaced, which i didnt ask for which meant they did the tracking without permission this was after i had just spent 160 quid on another garage setting car up on hunters machine, i didnt receive any calls about any of the work, prices etc.
now have to take car to have the back brakes repaired properly.
complained regarding the work being done without permission and got a 'goodwill' refund.
never again will i ever use that garage.
I took my bike in for the wheel to be trued and for the front brake to be fixed. When i went back he said the wheel still wobbles but its because of the tyre but it was the same amount of wobble.before i took it in and the brake was still.rubbing against the pads thats why i took it in but he said ive adjusted the brakes but your disk.rotar is bent so i said why did.you adjust the brakes when they didnt need adjusting and its the same amount of rub as last time.and why true my wheel when it was the tyre so they charge me for.it and they didnt change anything didnt fix one problem then i said it says on your website that you do a.full.check of the bike before you.do.any repairs but he said you.didnt ask utter useloose
Went to have the Bluetooth kit fitted. This was purchased from Halfords and was said to be iPod and iPhone compatible. The mechanic did not remove the old kit, and the new one did not work. When asked about the kit not working, all I was told was that it works with his blackberry, but the kit was possibly not compatible with newer iPhones.
After 3 hours and £130 later, I'm still using my old slightly functional Bluetooth kit and a completely dysfunctional NEW kit.
My daughter purchased a top of the line Tomtom satnav and also advised to have a home charger. As she is still a learner I went with her to the Tonbridge store. The young male assistant knew that the purchase was in her name and still spoke to me and I walked away so that the in car set up was with my daughter alone. When we got home she found out that the home charger was not compatible and that the live update feature on the Tomtom had expired, supposed to be for three years.
My wife went with her to the Sevenoaks store and encountered more sexism with the male assistants ignoring them and serving male clients in preference. When challenged with "we were next" he became defensive and and said that he was not sexist even though he hadn't been accused of it. perhaps he has been in the past. It still took two visits to get a refund!
My mum went in with a light on her dashbord and came out with 2 new tyres (which were still in the legal limit (the guy tried to say to me that they werent safe if it rained!!! at 2ml tread) and a new battery for £350. They just saw my mum, who lives on her own and is a wonderful Nana, coming. They disgust me.
Took my bike in for a service at the Milton Keynes branch. I asked for a full service, approx £70. Thought it funny when I was only charged £50, thinking I'd been given a deal. It wasn't until I rode the bike that weekend that I discovered that the gears had been poorly adjusted, the gears, chain and rear mech hadn't been lubricated. Worse of all the headset was loose so when I pushed down on the handlebars they rotated. This is blatant and dangerous incompetence!
I was given contact details for my company's 'Cycle to Work' rep at Halfords. I emailed her my greviances and got diddly-squat response, not even an apology.
Hi I have had several experiences With my local Cheadle autocentre. The staff on the front desk are rude and very unhelpful. I will never take my car there again and I will advise anyone to avoid Halfords. Take your car somewhere else.
I recently took my car there and when I brought it there I told them that the fault was intermittent. They said no problem they will run a diagnostic. They told me that the diagnostic showed no faults even tho it was clear to see that the car wasn't functioning properly.
I had to advise them to keep the car abit longer and run another test. They ran a test later in the day and got a read out. I asked if the problem the computer found would affect the issue with the car. They didn't know and didn't want to offer any answers.
They ordered the part fitted it and it didn't solve the problem. I asked why and I was told by the manager he wasn't the one who worked on the car I would have to wait for the guy who has been working on it. He wasn't sure when he would be back and didnt want offer any solution. He was rude and very on helpful. I was told that i need to take my car somewhere else without any explaination of what is the Problem. This is not the first time i have experienced service like this from Halfords. I will not be using them again. I will never recommend anyone to Halfords.
Having been brought up modifying my cars over the last 40 years with Halfords as my first port of call, I am really disappointed that I have to say that I will now NEVER visit my local Halfords store EVER again.
I say that about my local SLOUGH store. I have dropped into another store in the last 6 months, on a week day, and the reception was totally different.
It is not as if i have had one bad experience. I have really given them the chance having re visited five times now and on three of those occasions come away without buying what i had picked up off the shelves because there was no one to take my money. And having spent a stupid length of time checking out on the others.
Don't get me wrong, there are loads of people wandering around in orange aprons but all are always involved with something else or just wandering for the sake of it so that none of them can man the vacant tills. Perhaps this is down to the fitting services they offer and that is more interesting than helping customers buy off the shelf. Perhaps it is because the only time i have to visit is on a weekend? I am afraid these are not excuses though.
I have come up with a solution on my last visit. All I needed was a socket and spanner. Oh I think pop into Halfords. So I get there and can see the spanners in a cabinet. Can I get anyone to open it? No they are all busy and actually avoiding any contact with the many punters who were trying hard to spend their money. And of course once you get the spanner out of the cabinet you then have to wait in a huge line to pay at the only checkout that is open.
My solution. 100 yards down the road is B&Q. Yes they had the socket and spanners. No cabinet to negotiate speedy checkout or self service if you need it. Job done.
So my advice if you live in Slough....don't travel to Halfords on the Bath Road. You are likely to waste your time and petrol.
Me and my boyfriend went to buy a car radio from York to replace mine. The guy who was in the radio section of the store asked us if we needed any help within thirty seconds of us looking around. We told him our price range and what we wanted and he showed us what he had. He then went online see if we could get what we wanted for a bit cheaper (which we did!). He then helped us pinpoint what extras we needed and which were the best for my car. Overall it was a quick, stress free Christmas shopping trip. Very impressed.
Firstly may I say that before I took my car to the Halfords auto centre in Huddersfield I did read reviews on this site and thought that most were just rants by people that had nothing better to do but after having an exhaust fitted last year my car has been back in twice since,(both times costing me a day off work) the first time was for the front flexi section collapsing and which they replaced begrudgingly and the second time to sort out the rattle that was caused by fitting the front section incorrectly .. this repair only lasted for about two months before the new front section they had fitted failed again ... remember all this happened within the first 12 months where the original exhaust had lasted for nearly eight years and was only changed because of an advisory about the back box being slightly corroded.
I refused to take the car back after this point and instead had a full exhaust system fitted by another “reputable and recommended” fitter who said that the exhaust they fitted was rubbish and was bound to fail because the flexi section was too short and didn’t allow enough movement. So to sum up DO NOT BUY AN EXHAUST FROM HALFORDS.
I bought a Tomotom sat-nav last November from Halfords, Maidenhead. It started to fall off within 3 months. Obviously it was within warranty so I took it back to the shop. Hoping to get it repaired.
The horror begins. The customer service guy Alex is the rudest I have ever met. He first tried to blame the car windshield and said it must be curved, Don't know which car has got a curved windshield. Then he actually asked me if I licked the suction! Then finally he said that the suction , casing & the body is not covered by warranty.
I should have bought it from Amazon. They always fix/replace withing 24 hrs. In case anything goes wrong withing warranty.
I am never going to buy anything from Halfords anymore.
Can I start by saying I am not a Halfords employee and don't even know anyone who works there (Portswood Road Southampton). I tried to give them a tip but they said they weren't allowed to accept and anyway a review online meant more to them - so here it is! This was the second visit in a month as light bulbs had gone on both our family cars. On both occasions the staff were determined to get the bulbs in and working despite them being difficult to fit (I know that - I've tried in the past!). They were cheerful long past the point at which I would have given up. They refused a tip which I offered and I really think half an hour's work for £6 including the bulb is, even for me a lifelong skinflint, a ridiculously low charge. So thank you Southampton Halfords I think you're marvellous and would recommend you to anyone!
Reserved my bulb online and also the we fit service, however when I go to the store they refused to fit the bulb! apparently it takes too long and it is a "cancerous procedure"!!!!
My girlfriend went to have a headlight lamp replaced at Halfords in Gloucester. I would normally have done it (H7 lamps are a couple of quid each from most places), but it's cold, dark wet, snowing etc so we figured paying a little extra was worth it at this time of year.
The "expert" told her that as both lamps are on the same circuit, the other one would almost certainly fail within the next 2 or 3 days!!!
(All pairs of lamps operated by the same switch are on the same circuit ffs - and one failing has no bearing on how long the other one will last. - I know, I've replaced loads of lamps in my 35 plus years of motoring)
Charged £17 for two lamps and £14 for fitting.
Absolute robbery - avoid and do it yourself
Took my car to Halfords in Watlington Road, Oxford, the brakes were making a slight scraping sound and I wanted it checked out.
The mechaninc said they were fine but my brake fluid was too old and needed replacing.
This would cost £30 and take 30 minutes. I said ok, do it.
2 hours later the mechanic says the car is ready but, when I try it I have NO brakes.
I point this out to him and he says they are good enough.
When I went to Halfords my brakes "bit" about an inch from the top of the pedal (perfectly normal) after they'd finished they "bit" about an inch from the floor!
anyway, the manager was very unhelpful, he said if his mechanic said they were ok then they were ok.
I had to drive accross Oxford at rush hour to another garage that fixed them in 20 minutes.
The halfords joker didn't know that you have the bleed the master cylinder BEFORE the wheel cylinders, and this was causing all the trouble.
Halfords = total joke company - AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE
I booked my car for an MOT test at Mitcham branch SW17 9HP
Brought the car at given time 10 o'clock in the morning.
Half price offer ( WOW ).Why not.
Left the car with them for about 2hrs (everybody makes mistakes).
Pass but with two advisory items
-EPS light on
-long parking brake travel (handbrake).
*amber items-braking system needs attention (according to halfords).
Disc and pads all round (upgraded discs and pads, not standard Oem's) were all changed last year.Approx 6 months ago.Not a lot of driving done since.
They rang, its time to collect my car.Of course this f****** have already updated my MOT history on the computer (with two advisory items on it).
I have a feeling that this garage is scamming customers and they put advisory items on if half price MOT offer is presented and con them on the work required or unrequired as it may be the case.
Now to the point,
less then 45 minutes later car went to Honda dealer for a full sevice.Technicians at Honda checked the car in and out.Every detail on it.
Results,
Nothing wrong with the car at all.Everything on the car works tip top.
-EPS lights when you turn the key,the second you start the engine light turns off (same like most lights on the dash, its normal)
-handbrake and brakes all in very good condition (no adjustments or attention needed at all)
Car very weel looked after on the 54 plate with 54000k only since new.Full main dealer history and always well maintained.Never any advisory items on any MOT's in the past.
I would NEVER use Halfords again, either their shops or their repair centres, for anything and I would strongly recommend anyone against going anywhere near them.
Anyway, if you made it this far... congrats. I know that was long, but I just needed to get it out there
Recently went to Halfords Northampton to have a bulb replaced on an X Type Jag.
The Halfords 'expert' had a look at the car and said this would have to be done at a garage because ' it was to complicated ' for them to do . Very frustrated by this so had a look online , found a simple guide and did it myself . Contacted Halfords customer service , who were hopeless . All they had to say was that it is up to their local 'expert' to decide if they are able to fit or not . What a rubbish service !
Halfords either need to train staff properly or do not pretend to offer a service they cannot deliver .
My advice would be go elsewhere , or do it yourself .
I purchased a kenwood CD player with usb for ipod/iphone connection from the halfords store in macclesfield, the product was faulty (not reading iphone or ipod) so I took it back with the box and receipt.
I explained to one of the staff after doing research that this was a common problem with the kenwood stereos and that if they replaced it with the same model I would still have the same problem, the only solution they offered was to send the faulty item back to kenwood for repairs, eventually I know ill receive a new kenwood stereo and still have the same problem as research has proven that this a recurring problem with these stereos. I wanted to simply swap the stereo for another of equal or less value but that seemed to much for Halfords to do, I forgot to mention earlier that I was persuaded to buy this stereo especially from a member of there staff as I was ensured it would be compatible with my iPhone, after querying what would happen once I received a new stereo and had the same problem, I was told it was then out of there hands.
Overall the staff were not helpful in the slightest and didn't seem to care about customer service. Certainly wont be purchasing from Halfords ever again if this isn't resolved how it should be.
I ordered a car battery online and received a text and an email to confirm the order and collection time. On arrival at the store I found that they had no batteries of the required type despite the online stock level reading and it being a common size. I was referred to a depot a couple of miles away who I was told would order one in within an hour. On arrival there an hour and half later was told that I should not have been told to arrive so soon. I came back an hour later and it had still not arrived so went to National Tyres near the original store who were very helpful and cheaper!
I complained to Halfords HQ and received a reply to say that they had passed the complaint to the store who had left a message on my answerphone. A lie as not only was there no message but 1471 revealed no one had called.

Just before Christmas, I decided to buy two bikes for my sons (8 and 10) for Christmas.
Recently I was sent two emails from Halfords asking me to review; firstly the "bike", and secondly the "bike assembley". I therefore did. However, although the bikes themselves were, in my opinion, good value for money (not perfect, but certainly not bad), I had been frustrated by the lack of attention to me whilst waiting at the counter to be served, and in addition, neither of the bikes had been assembled correctly.
Being practical and capable, I opted to resolve the set-up issues (one bike not selecting 1st gear, and the other 1st and 2nd gear) myself. This was to avoid all the trouble of taking two bikes back to the store to get it resolved.
I therefore completed two reviews, and although was (I thought) complimentary about the bikes themselves, did explain that I thought their staff were not great. I added to this by saying they were polite, and I think well-meaning, but just not sincere (or lacked ability, or appropriate training).
The review guidelines did state to keep specifically to the "product". Well when the second review asked for my feedback on "bike assembley", I take that as "the product" and therefore could provide a positive review.
I then received a notification by email saying:
"Hi XXXXXXX
Thank you for taking the time to post a product review on Halfords.com. Unfortunately, we can’t post your review just yet. While we aim to share all consumer reviews, they must first meet a few guidelines. However, we encourage you to return to the site and resubmit it after reading our guidelines.
Again, thank you for your feedback and for taking the time to share your experience with us. We look forward to sharing your review on Halfords.com soon!
Cat.code: BikeAssembly
Unfortunately, we were unable to post your review on the site because it did not fully meet our submission guidelines."
Well I did click on their link to "guidelines" and they were not guidlines; just legalistic language about liability etc.
I think it poor that when you take the time to read reviews to get a feeling for a product and a company, that in reality you are only seeing "censored" reviews which "suit" the company. I of course do not expect to see rude or defamatory language, but when it is sincere critiscism, I think they should take it "on the chin", not omit it, which could be seen as deceitful.
I absolutely do not appreciate a bland email telling me my review has not been accepted in the way it was actioned!
They also do not (like an increasing number of companies) make it easy to contact them by email. However, I did manage to copy a reply email into their head of Communications(PR), as having tracked down his email address on the internet, wanted to make sure they know the power of social media sites such as Trustpilot.
I have purchased many things from Halfords over the years, and generally think their products are good value for money. However I would advise patience when waiting to be served, and caution if relying on their staff to set-up products or fit products. If you are not practical yourself, I would advise considering dealing with another company, where you can be more confident of knowledgeable service.
Good advice and selection on internet for transit wheelchairs in sale. Reserved 03,01,13. / 04,01,13 texted at 8 30am to let me know the said product was in store awaiting pickup from Halfords, Cowley Inbetween Roads.
Had good advice on wheelchair, demonstration and trail run with yours truly sat in same.with husband pushing,
Also very helpfull when it came about how to claim for VAT exemption.
I was very surprised that Halfords stocked Disability products. Keep up the good work.
Last but not least, very competative price.

On the 28-12-12 I took my cycle wheel into Halfords for a new wheelspoke. After waiting 10 minuits for someone to book the job in, I was told they would check to see if they had a spoke to fit it, and they would have it done by 1-1-13 and would call me to let me know it was done.Guess what? No phone call.So we called ourselves on 1-1-13 and were told they had'nt got a spoke to fit it and the job was not done. We collected the wheel and are now taking it to a local independant cycle shop who can complete the job.
Advice to halfords, check first wether you can do the job before you take it on and inconvenience your customers enough to inspire them to write a review like this.
I did not receive the item i ordered 3 weeks ago and still haven't received a refund after email customer services 3 times.
Useless.
I went for a radio removal key which was priced at £1 online so thought I'll go get two.I was told they don't sell them and they may have been stolen :s so I left went next door reserved them online on phone went back in and was given a packet of 2 which are priced at £6. Then I reserved a car radio the text said wait one hour which I did went into the store they had none in stock even tho online said they did I was told the one in stock was a faulty return. Got home recieved a message saying radio is ready to be picked up. I rang them up and was told a staff member had drove to another halfords for it which is going beyond helpfull :). although it says it will fit my car online I didn't pay for fitting but can't seem to get it to work I hope I wasn't just sold the faulty unit they mentioned. I shall be going in hopefully soon to pay for it to be fitted. Thanks random Wigan employee for picking it up for me.
Paid for full service amd winter service but they didnt check battery terminals. I would expect it. Although fair play they sorted it out.
I have been to halfords in the past with much disappointment, but this visit was just stupid!
I needed a spanner for my motorbike, nothing complicated. The spanners are kept in a locked cabinet so i needed a member of staff to open it for me. once i found one of two members of staff, he told me he was busy disappointing another customer and he would get back to me. 20 minutes later i went to find him again, only to be blown of again. After wondering around the store trying to find another member of staff to help me get at my little spanner i decided this was a pointless effort, and just left the store. Making sure to tell the guy on the till they needed more staff. This was at least 35 minutes after entering the store!
All this effort just for a spanner which was over priced anyway at £8!
Unacceptable service from the few staff in the store
This was the Bishop Auckland store in Co. Durham
I bought a couple of bulb upgrades for my wife's car from Halfords Redditch and for the hassle of fitting them paid for the two to be fitted.
This car is awkward to fit the headlamp bulbs to so I thought I was saving myself grief.
A later that day there was condensation inside both headlamps so I called the store and arranged to go back the next day. Same guy came out and fiddled for a while and said everything was fine.
Condensation kept on appearing in the nearside lamp, but halfrauds insisted that the bulb had been fitted correctly. After taking the bumper off to investigate, the back plate to the headlamp had not been fitted correctly, allowing water to get inside resulting in a new headlamp being required, for the sake of saving me an hour, it cost me over 70 pounds for a new headlamp.
Would they pay up for the replacement, no, despite photos of when I was taking the bumper off. No responsibility for the incorrect fitment of the bulb, point blank refusal to pay for on contribute to the replacement headlamp.
Never, ever again will I use them. You couldn't trust them to fit a wheel to your wheelie bin.

My garmin charger wire broke so I went to Halfords and was looking at cables to buy. At £17 !! Anyway near the enquiry counter was a box of old stock bits , broken boxes cables etc. all discounted so I rooted around in it (as you do) and found a tatty box with a cable identical to the garmin except it had a curly flexible cord even better ! a young male assistant approached and asked if I needed help. I explained my problem and asked if the cable was suitable the figures on the side volts etc were identical. Yes said the lad thats the same except its for a mobile phone but should work. I went the car and tried it . Perfect. on the box was £7.95 dicounted price, got to the till £5 off as well so from 17 pound down to £2.50 yipee what a bargain good assistant helpful and not trying to hard sell , brilliant this lad could work anywhere honest helpful, enthusiastic and understanding.
Excellent reserve and collect facilities, when they have offers they are usually very good, however sometimes some of the items are a bit overpriced, Halfords do offer good advice and their team are usually knowledgeable about the products they sell.
Purchased my bike from here with the cycle to work scheme,They bent over backwards to get me the bike sorted for the time and achieved it..mansfield halfords is the bees knees as far as im concerned...
I would not say Halfords has customer care. It's more like don't care. They make no pretence at it from my experience. In my job I get to sample a wide range of companies' customer care departments and my recent experience with them has to rank as the worst that I have ever had. So bad, indeed, that they did not get my custom. It started with me wanting to buy a Clarion sat nav for my new car. I contacted Halfords online to ask what they could do. By the time the responded I had already had info from a wide range of retailers. And they came up with? Nothing. Just diverted me to a branch and a web link. In this day and age! But I thought, they might still help, so I phoned my local branch in Bishopbriggs, Glasgow. Wanted the unit and wanted it fitted. They could not supply the exact unit I was after but could fit it. Fine. Would cost a maximum of £100. The assistant talked about what car I had, the kind of parts needed to make it fit. There may be a backlog for fitting, but yes, they would do the fitting. So I bought the unit elsewhere and taking delivery of it, I promptly rang up the Halfords centre to arrange fitting. I was hopeful of talking to the helpful assistant I had before. Then I discovered it was less than helpful. The offhand manager says no can do. "Why? " I asked. Because Halfords policy is not to fit units not bought through them. But what about what I was told? Hard luck. He shouldn't have told me that, he said. But he did? What am I going to do? I bought the unit on the understanding you would fit it. Who am I going to find now. Can't do anything about that, he says. Was there any attempt to rectify? Any attempt to maybe make clear that the wrong impression his staff had put out to a member would be put right Not even that. And the website, does not make it clear the fitting service is only for products bought through Halfords, either. I say I will complain to execs about it. And I encountered a first. Not even an acknowledgement of my concerns. Despite several reminders over several days to two of them. So Halfords lost out on hundreds of pounds worth of business from one very disgruntled, err , would-be customer. Then I find out a Which study published in May which found Halfords customer care to be "unhelpful and rude" and the worst in terms for people friendliness in the country. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4328889/Unhelpful-and-rude-Halfords-is-named-Britains-worst-store.html And then I thought, ah, thought so.
Don't take my word for it folks. They really do suck.
I promised my wife that I would change the oil in her car while she was away on a short break with friends.I messed up by attempting to remove filter with a screwdriver. The filter would not budge.I went to my local Halfords in Naas and found a very helpful assisant who advised me about the pros and cons of various filter removers.I chose the pliers and and the filter came off easily when pliers was used.Great purchase as it got the job done without hassle.
I purchased a Garmin Edge 200 GPS from Halfords. It had a £30 cash-back offer on the Halfords website, this swayed me to purchase. I uploaded all the relevant files/details to the Garmin site and was informed by Garmin that “Promotion has now been approved and that you will receive payment within the next 28 days”. Well 28 days came and went. I emailed & phoned both Halfords and Garmin, Halfords passed the book saying “that It was nothing to do with them” Garmin replied saying that “We are pleased to confirm that your payment is now in progress. The amount will be awarded to you within the next few days”. Well guess what, the next few days have come and went and still no cheque.
I have phoned Halfords to return the product as the contract between myself and Halfords has been broken. Halfords say that they cannot accept the product back unless it is faulty. As far as I am concerned, this is a load of rubbish, as my contract is with them and the £30 cash-back offer was on their site!
As far as I am concerned this now appears to be a con
I will update this as things progress/or not.
Okay, it is now 2/10/12 I was promised the cheque by the 11/09/12. This is a con, I will never purchase from this dreadful company again!
after being told by my parts insurace company to go and have my car checked out at Halfords In Ardwick manchester i turned up as pre-arranged and let them take my scenic for a test drive, i suspected a wheel bearing as all that was wron was a slight knocking from front near side of the car, when the assistant came bk with my vehicle he told me yes indeed i think its a wheel bearing!, i said well i will need to book it in asap as i have breakdown and parts cover for with my insurance policy, his eyes lit up and said one momment i must just have a word with the manager, he went outside then into the workshop, on his return he said yes we will have to book it in for you as you also have geabox and engine problems!, i said no i dont engine and gearbox are fine my machanic keeps my car running sweet and it gets all it needs ive only bought the car here as its coverd by my warranty, he insisted he couldnt get gears and the engine was running bad, on return to my vehicle i couldnt get 1st or 2nd gears the engine management system light was on and it was running awful! i asked him what he was playing at and what he had done to my car, he replied nothing thats how i got it and it will cost you over 1000 poiunds to fix! i couldnt believe my ears and was fuming so i asked to speak to a manager who i told was not available he was (hiding)....i managed to get my vehicle back to my friends garage who found they had unpugged a cable from the EMS and hid it away and also evidence they had jacked up the engine splitting the mountings on gearbox and engine! fuming i rang the area manager who wouldnt let me talk and even swore at me and called me a lier!....with no phisical evididance i cannot take this any further other than to warn others about the Ardwick Halfords in Manchester which i think should be shut down over there working practices! grrrr.
I bought my bike to Halfords to be fixed, a quick job, but it promised to be cheaper than buying the tool I needed to do it myself.
I took it in on a Saturday, they said they'd have it done by Monday. Tuesday evening so far and it hasn't been touched.
It's cost me £20+ plus for travelling, stress, phone calls and robbed me of cycling in glorious weather.
They haven't kept me informed at all. When I call it generally take a minute or two for the phone to be answered and transferred to the Bike Hut, where I am usually put on hold indefinitely. Luckily it's close by so it's not too much bother to pop in, but they still keep me waiting for a good 15 minutes.
All my friends said I was mad to be taking it there, but I thought I'd try.How wrong I was. I'm also thinking of upgrading my bike next month, I'd even seen one in Halfords that I liked. I won't be getting it from there for sure! More info here http://tny.cz/74c40c2d.
