How can this company still be running? Took best part of two weeks to deliver a package to me. Item shows up in box that looked like it had done 10 rounds with MIke Tyson, delivered by some guy in a family car who did not give a damn item was broke in box which came as no major surprise. These guys are cheap for a reason they are rubbish...
I have placed three orders so far with reputable companies such as Boots, John Lewis and Lakeland all using Hermes. So far not one item has been delivered to my house and none of the companies can explain why.
These orders are for Christmas presents. So far I have cancelled the Boots one, Lakeland have agreed to use another courier and John Lewis have said they would ensure Hermes emailed me to advise what has happened.
When I go to track my order it says:
Date Time Status
09/12/2013 15:02 Refused - No Longer Required
09/12/2013 11:19 Courier Received
09/12/2013 05:30 Out For Delivery

08/12/2013 23:24 Receipt at Depot

08/12/2013 11:45 Missing Pre-Advice
I can categorically say that the item was not refused. Nobody has tried to deliver it. There has been no card left through my door and there is also a note on the door asking for items to be left in the garage if there is no reply.
There are several Christmas presents in this order and if I don’t get them in time I will not have an opportunity to get alternatives.
Ordered from a company that uses Hermes to delivery. It was a standard delivery request that should arrive in 3-5 days. I was at home on the day they emailed me saying it will arrive and waited all day for a knock on the door. No note. Nothing. I phoned up and they said they had posted it through my letter box. Considering I had ordered a puffy WINTER JACKET and thick JUMPERS, I very much doubt the driver had delivered in through a letter box that can just about fit a box of chocolates!
Placed an order with a company and they dispatched the order via this terrible company. I didn't request this shopping method so I don't know why they send all the low value orders with this company. (No more than £20) anyway, the tracking says there's an error with my address (there's not. I've checked it twice and so has the First lady I spoke to)
Waiting so long for an orde r that should have been a few days rather over a week.
No apology from the company either!
I've used this company multiple times now and they have been late or bodged it up every time. I now check who the courier is before ordering online and pay the extra to get someone else to deliver whatever I'm ordering so that I avoid these goons. From reading reviews it looks as though it is on an individual basis, some may be lucky enough to have a competent driver living in their area. I am not so lucky. Every parcel I have had delivered from them goes back to the depot at least twice for "additional delivery information". If you need additional delivery information after you have been given a building number, street name and a postcode you should probably be reassessing your career as a delivery driver.
We were waiting for a delivery that should have arrived two days ago. We checked the tracking info on the Hermes, or Herpes as we call them, website. It showed "delivered to porch" two day ago!
We don't have a "porch". After a thorough search of the garden, bins, patio we could not find anything.
Hermes/Herpes allow or want contact from their victims as they don't care and their victims don't matter to them. So we contacted the company from which we bought the item.
One email and three phone calls in n afternoon later we received a call from the shop. The lame excuse they had received from Hermes/Herpes was that the "regular" driver was off sick. The stand in driver had "scanned all their deliveries wrong", whatever that means. So they had not in fact delivered the package.
Strange how we only received this admission from them AFTER we complained and said we could prove no delivery had been made. We had checked our CCTV for the day in question and no one had attempted a delivery!
It has still yet to arrive, we have been assured it will arrive today. If we're lucky!
In August we used Hermes/Herpes to send an item we had sold on Amazon. A The customer contacted us later to say they had not received it. We checked and found that the Hermes/Herpes driver had delivered it by throwing it over a garden fence! My wife's seller status with Amazon was downgraded as a result of Hermes/Herpes shabby action. Even though we had done everything we could to sort it out. Only after a direct email to Jeff Bezos, the owner of Amazon, was my wifes status returned to it's former five star rating.
We will never use Hermes/herpes again. We now ask every online seller we buy from who they use for deliveries. If they say Hermes/Herpes we tell them they have lost a sale as a result and we shop somewhere else.
This uncaring, shabby, third rate, pathetic excuse for a delivery company don't want to hear from their victims. Their cowardly attitude means there is only one recourse. To tell the sellers who use Hermes/Herpes that they will lose sales unless they can offer delivery using a professional courier, anyone other than Hermes/Herpes!
If enough people boycott these cowboys then they will either go out of business or start operating like professional couriers!

Spent hours trying to get this sorted. I doubt they ever tried to make a delivery as they lost it from the start. Eventually they admit the parcel is lost on the 26.11.2013. I suspect getting compensation from them is difficult.
Avoid them. They are a gamble.
Below is the tracking info I get.

They send you a text telling you your item is out for delivery AFTER they tried to deliver it and after they have returned it to the sender.
Not that they even tried to deliver it, there was no attempted delivery card and no knock at the door
Hardly surprising that its such a shambles when you can't talk to anyone in customer services and the woman who covers my area only works for a couple of hours in the middle of the weekday, doesn't help that she is a combination of stupid, lazy and rude!
Better to strap your stuff to a pigeon and cross your fingers!

This company is an absolute joke!!!
They have delivered a parcel on the 11/11/13 at 19.33, only there is no parcel!!
Called there customer services and told i need to speak to amazon which is a joke as i am requesting the signature that they have. They said they cant deal with it at all and there is nothing they can do. This this a parcel worth over £200 and they just don't care. why companies continue to use them when parcels continue to be "lost" i dont know.
I have seen one of the people signing for my parcel before and just leaving it on my door step on a busy main road, luckily i got to him and gave him a piece of my mind, he didnt even knock on my door!!
Second day now I've been left a 'sorry I missed you' card. First day, heard no knock, nor did my neighbour.
Today, heard the knock, Got quickly down the stairs.....to find a card. I couldn't quickly run out after the driver as I was barefooted and it was cold and raining.
No contact details or number on the cards. I found the tracking number via the dispatch details on the site of product seller. Rang Hermes. However, Hemes asked me to contact the seller.
Why? The seller wasn't the one who couldn't be bothered to wait less than a minute for me to get down the stairs. They claim to have no way of contacting the driver to ask him/her to return and have no details of deliveries.
This is one shambles of a company. I will not be using or recommending them.
Ordered a pair of trainers with MandMdirect on 24th Oct to be delivered on set day of 26th Oct Saturday. On delivery day followed the tracking offered by Hermes at around 2pm. The last status was at 13:28pm saying the customer had signed for??? I called MandMdirect to lodge a complaint and get them to investigate. Later on that day quite late in the evening after finding this site I was shocked to find a lot people saying that items had been left outside properties with no notice so decided to check out the front after being in doors all day. To my amazement, after opening our outward opening front door, what's siting there in the pouring rain in the middle of the night? You guessed it! To anyone using MandMdirect, don't have a Saturday delivery, they use link express during the week and they can't be faulted. Never use Hermes!
I ordered vitamin from online and expected parcel to be delivered yesterday after getting a text from hermes at 12.42pm on 17/10 but no parcel was delivered. i waited until today only to find out it has been signed by customer who certainly is not me. i was in all day on 17 and 18 of october and didnt hear any knock or what ever other signal they must be using, they probably whispering from outside the door " hiya i got your parcel and im either going to steal it or lost it somewhere and go. when i call "my hermes" they say i have to call the retailer to find out about my parcel. its clearly is hermes fault as they delivered my parcel and didnt even left a note to tell me who is it with? i am really furious when the customer service just hang up on me when i tell them " that is not the retailer fault but its entirely your fault as you probably just left my parcel outside my flat for everyone to see or gave it to my neighbour and dont even bother to leave a note for it". how stupid do they think we are? if you dont have my parcel, why did you send a text saying your parcel is now out for delivery! you wouldnt be doing that if you dont have my parcel now would you. DUH!!! what am i suppose to do now? knock on every door and ask every neighbour on my block whether they got my parcel? some of them are not even that nice to talk to and im sure one of them has swallowed some of the vitamin that i ordered for my asthmatic conditions. this is what the status of my parcel is.

they just forgot to add to the last status: it should be "its lost due to hermes always employ unprofessional ignorant courier who will never get their job right and most of them actually steal the parcel too".

I was a bit concerned about if I'm gonna get my coat that I delivered from BHS in time after reading the previous reviews here BUT I have to tell that it has arrived in time, exactly as they stated in their email that I received a day before that. And as to double my positive review my friend ordered a coat from NEXT delivered by Hermes and it has arrived in time as well. The delivery man was very kind had a quick chat with him, he gave a leaflet with his name and contact number on it if there's something wrong with the coat and we want to send it back. I live in Nottingham area and completely satisfied .

I am very cross with hermes. This company employ very untrustworthy drivers. I ordered some very expensive makeup from QVC. When I didnt receive my package after several days following dispatch , I decided to contact QVC. They said my order status was left at the front door (very stupid place to leave a parcel) however there was no parcel and no delivery note posted. I have now lost out on the item as it is sold out. QVC, USE ROYAL MAIL. Forget using these cheats.
It as been 1 week, since we ordered a parcel, and it as been 2 days that the company HERMES ( that works with John Lewis), should be delivering at my house, been watching the track number, they say that they have been trying now two days... and is just impossible, or they have a invisible van and a invisible delivery person, No one showed up.... but the report says it has..... been calling John Lewis and nothing... nobody can resolve this problem....need now with some urgency, and there is no way I am getting this parcel tomorrow, since the VAN IS INVISIBLE!
Put two orders in with the same company, one was delivered next day no problem by CityLink, however I had the curse of receiving the other parcel through Hermes.
It's been five days and my order so far is SIX days late!

Apparently they're going to deliver tomorrow, I'm listening for the fake knock on the door failed delivery attempt.
***Update- Hermes contacted me to confirm delivery address so I asked them if I could pick it up from the depot. A half hour drive to the depot later, I was greeted by a friendly member of staff who had my parcel ready. Such a shame they can't deliver on time.

7 of my recent orders with online companies were delivered by Hermes. Of those, three were delivered to the wrong address and three of them were not delivered at all and one took three weeks to be delivered. The three that weren't delivered were supposedly left in a safe location, the communal hallway of my building by the front door. Obviously these three parcels went missing as a communal hallway is hardly a safe place. That's if they were actually delivered in the first place as for all know the courier stole them. No cards were left through the door so There's no proof the courier even left the parcels. I've actually had a full blown argument with one of their self employed couriers before after he threatened and swore at me on the phone. Hermes seem to use self employed couriers and would apparently not require any experience, skill or professionalism from them. Hermes won't allow you to contact them by phone or email to complain personally and they say 'contractual obligations' are the reason, although I've spoken to some of the companies who use them and it's Hermes insistence that they are not to be contacted directly by the person receiving the parcel. They really are utterly rubbish and incompetent.
Ordered from Dorothy Perkins last Thursday, order was dispatched on Friday and given tracking info that led me to the Hermes site. This was updated regularly although I didn't receive notifications, I just kept refreshing the page. A minor niggle but updates via text/email would have improved things. My parcel arrived today (Monday), so within 3 working days from ordering it, and I am very happy with that.
Service could be improved by giving a slightly more accurate delivery date - I was sent a text when the parcel was picked up by the courier to let me know this and say my parcel would arrive within 2 working days. It arrived that day, which is great as I happened to be in - but in future it would be better to be given a more precise delivery date. Some companies even text the day before or on the day itself to give a more narrowed down time ie within certain hours.
Other than that, am really pleased. I think sadly it's luck of the draw depending on where you live and who the courier is. Mine obviously knows the area and knows his stuff. I always had terrible problems with another delivery company at a previous address whereas my dad who lived elsewhere found them to be brilliant - I think it's the same with Hermes, judging by the reviews. As a company, they should listen to all feedback and try to provide a more consistent service. That's why I've given 4 stars instead of 5 even though my experience was a positive one.
I ORDERED AN ITEM FROM IDEAL WORLD ON 28/8/13.
THEY EMAILED TO SAY IT HAD LEFT THE WAREHOUSE ON 2/9/13 & GAVE ME A TRACKING NUMBER FOR HERMES EUROPE.
TODAY IS THE 4TH & THE ONLY DETAIL SHOWN AGAINST THEIR NUMBER IS 29/8/13 - ORDER GENERATED !
I FOUND A TELEPHONE NUMBER FOR HERMES/PARCELNET,CREWE & THEY SAY THEY CANNOT HELP WITH TRACKING & TO CONTACT IDEAL WORLD!
WHY HAVE A TRACKING SYSTEM THAT IS USELESS TO ADDRESSEES ?
HERMES, YOUR SERVICE IS AS MUCH USE AS A CHOCOLATE FIREGUARD !
OBVIOUSLY FROM SENDERS POINT OF VIEW IT'S MAYBE THE CHEAPEST SYSTEM TO USE BUT USING IT, DOESN'T ENDEAR THEIR CUSTOMERS TOO WELL TO THE CARRIER.
I bought an expensive piece of specialist electronic equipment on eBay in the USA. A few days into shipment and eBay tells me that the item is with Citipost UK for local delivery. I keep checking their tracking system and at some point it says that the package wasn't picked up by the courier (so it didn't even get to the stage of attempted delivery) and will instead be returned to the seller. I phone them and guess what -- they aren't the ones delivering, it's Hermes, and Hermes left no reason on the tracking system for the courier not picking up the parcel on the tracking system. But because Hermes are returning it to Citipost, Citipost have no choice but to send it back to the USA! After much harassment from me they give me the phone number of Hermes (08445437071 by the way) and tell me to call them myself to find out why the parcel was never delivered. I call Hermes, they are quite rude to me and tell me that they will only discuss things with Citipost (why?) I eventually got Citipost to write to Hermes to ask them why the parcel is being returned and this morning they forwarded the reply to me, which would be hilarious if it weren't so incompetent: "Unfortunately there are no note son the system stating why the parcel has been returned. It could be that the parcel was damaged upon receipt." The courier didn't pick up the parcel because it was damaged?! This is England and we live in the 21st century! Having parcels delivered by camelback would be more reliable.
Regular couriers possibly OK but there is no effort to find an address in rural areas. See other posts for confirmation.
Even worse, as other posts also show, you can't contact them direct. Which suggests they have too many complaints to deal with!
Parcel left in greenhouse...........NO IT ISN'T!
Card through door........ NO CONTACT NUMBER!
Phone number from website.......we cant discuss parcels sent from other companies, contact the company who will then contact us........I DON'T KNOW WHO THE PARCEL WAS FROM!
WHAT NOW HERMES ?
Berwick upon Tweed
They could not deliver one simple package and sent it back.
The reason: couldn't find the address. So ridicolous.
The address is a WELL KNOWN SKYSCRAPER in a very WELL KNOWN streeet, besides a VERY WELLKNOWN hospital!!!
Could it be worse??????
Their answer ... "sorry" ... WOW! I am impressed ....
Some friends in Germany sent a jacket to my daughter. Unfortunately we were away for a few days and Hermes tried to deliver the parcel on 3 consecutive days whilst we were away. We arrived back the following day and have made repeated attempts to contact the courier but the number on the card appears to be incorrect and I have had no contact. I tried to contact Hermes who said there was nothing they could do as it was sent in Germany. I emailed the email address I was given but have had no reply. I have no idea where the jacket is or what I am supposed to do. I now have the tracking number but the site states AQ Hold carded 3 times but that doesn't help me get the jacket. Useless company with absolutely no customer service.
I have had problems in the past with these guys and not turning up as arranged but I have always had a number and a name left to call and be firm with!! I was rather disappointed when I found out my parcel would be coming through them as it always turns into some sort of circus. I find this morning through the tracking that an attempt was made at 8.10AM this morning. Slightly annoyed as I was in the shower and thought I had missed the phone call. My door buzzer at the front door is broken and a greedy landlord refuses to fix it so it's all phone calls when people arrive! Anyway.. I go to pick up the card thinking I'll just give them a call and they'll pop back later only I find no name, no phone number, no redelivery attempt date. Nothing. Chased my tail trying to call Hermes but they don't care, seller doesn't give two hoots either so I have to cancel a job interview to sit in and wait to see if it happens again tomorrow. In future I shall avoid any company that uses these muppets!!!
Leaves no contact number on delivery advice slip & no redelivery advice information, just a blank slip. Leaves 4 days between rediliveries. I sat waiting for 3 days. Terrible service. Will not buyitems using them as courier. I was buying from ebay. It took 5 weeks to get one item it was returned to vendor. A nightmare!!
Hermes state that they will collect all day or up to 8pm. It's now 8:55pm and still nothing. What kind of a service says it will do something and then not only does not deliver but does not let you know that they are failing you?
If I could give no stars I would have done as this is a complete failure. They should be ashamed of their rubbish service. When I tried to find out if the courier was going to come I was told that they couldn't track where their drivers were or what routes they were following. Typically logistics firms have programmes that give optimised routes for collections/ drop-offs so I don't understand this.
I will be advising anyone I know to steer well clear.
Why does Top Shop use this useless courier service?? Maybe Top Shop could let us know. Hermes claims they couldn't find my house which is absolute rubbish - and as Top Shop took my mobile number, why didn't they call and ask? My daughter goes away on Sunday so I paid extra for choosing next day delivery but now I shall have to cancel the whole order. No phone number on the website - 48 hours before they reply to emails (if you're lucky).
I ordered two items which were both delivered on the same day by hermes. The driver had instruction to leave in my garage which as gtheir drivers know, is always unlocked. Always because it has no lock!
Instead of using the open garage door, he pulled the double doors on my side shed. So hard he split the wood and pulled the lock (still locked intact) out of the wood. He then placed the two parcels in the shed but could not shut the door so had to move a large box to place in front of it to keep it closed. This is criminal damage.
To make matters worse, when I complained at the sheer unbelievable behaviour, they sent out a courier to look. He is my normal courier and agreed he was shocked and had no idea why the other chap had done it but that it did not surprise him given the other complaints they were getting.
So, after seeing the damage, I got an response of this:
I have spoken to the courier. He explained that the double doors are very flimsy. As far as he remembers, there appeared to be nothing wrong when he arrived, and had no problems closing the door. Wasn't aware of causing any damage, and certainly didn't move any boxes from the garage to close it. As the courier is certain they did not cause any damage nor attempt to disguise the matter Hermes rejects the claim for damages.
Unbelievable. I am livid. They broke a brand new shed and it is NOT flimsy hence my sheer disbelief at why he did it! I want them to come out, a manager and the bloke who did it and explain exactly what they mean by flimsy, why he did not use the open garage door as instructed and why he lied about using a box from the garage to shut the door! Will they return my enquiry? No chance so far. I have no alternative other than to call the police but what do I say? Someone broke into my brand new shed to put a parcel in it!?
Disgrace, I hope they contacgt me to try and put this right. I was only asking them to mend the shed!
Bought 3 things off Ebay which were unfortunately sent by Hermes on 24th & 25th July, one they claim delivered to Porch.......... I live on a busy estate, all sorts of people passing by all the time. Crazy to leave it there, if it was indeed left as there was no card put through the door!!! The other 2 times worth around £300 were in one package collected apparently collected by Hermes on 25th and have now disappeared!! I also had the misfortune of things never being delivered twice before when Hermes were the courier. Well they should be re-branded as a "Non Delivery Service" - isn't it odd how they can suss out how to collect items but not deliver them. It makes you wonder how many of these "lost" items you could find on Amazon, Ebay , or Car Boot Sales if you had the time!!
I have had the unhappy experience of using Hermes a few times through work. Our agent was utterly inflexible - wouldn't walk up one flight of stairs to our offices and wouldn't ring when she arrived in the car park so we had to stand by the window to watch out for her. Paperwork took ages, and delivery was NEVER less than 3 days (took nearly 3 weeks on one occasion) I avoided using Hermes wherever possible.
I am now selling a lot of things on Ebay - I tried to set up a personal account with Hermes, thinking I live in a different location to work, so will have a different agent - they cant all be that bad, after all. Ha, ha! This time, I am unable to even set up an account and book a collection, and Hermes have ignored 3 emails asking why I cannot use their system.
Avoid this company completely.
I order from acessorize and superdry quite often and they use Hermes for their couriers. Sometimes the track and trace is a bit of a nightmare to use and it makes no sense but everything in generally delivered on time and the delivery guy is lovely :)
i had an experience contrary to the one painted out here. timely service. did not have to wait too long. received courier within 4 days of order, which is not at all bad. highly recommend to anyone inspite of the overall dissatisfaction. i guess i was extremely lucky! :)
I have never heard of this 'Hermes' delivery service before. I ordered a poster from Allposters.com who used this service. I checked on their website and was supposed to arrive today. Judging by the reviews I can expect to receive a terrible service. I hear this company is owned by the Germans..I mean what do you expect. They should stick to making Volkswagens..lol
If I could give no stars I would. I was advised tht I would receive my parcel on Friday from New Look and according to the tracking website my items were signed for!! What an absolute lie, I have been chasing teh courierr for the last 3 days to no response!
What a bunch of dishonest individuals!! If there was any honesty there I would have recevied a call back!! There has been absolutely no correspondance at all!!
I ordered goods from John Lewis on a Thursday, and Hermes allegedly delivered to a neighbour on the Monday. My wife and I are both disabled and don't leave the house much and were in all day on the Monday and our door bell and knocker both work. I contacted John Lewis who said the same it has been delivered to a neighbour, I asked which neighbour but they could not tell me this, I embarrassingly did a tour of my neighbours to ask if anyone had received a parcel on my behalf, they all said they hadn't.
Contacted John Lewis again and guess what they did, they promised a replacement by a different courier by 10:30 on Wed, no surprise to later discover replacement parcel had also been sent via Hermes, beggars belief.
